BANGALORE RESTAURANT: DIFFERENT INDIA

India without falling into topics. A restaurant that offers something different has opened in the Salamanca district of Madrid: traditional Indian food in a space where you can breathe modernity among aromas of spices.

Nothing typical about India. That was the idea that moved the owner of Bangalore to the studio Madrid in love before they went to work in the decoration of this restaurant. Indian tradition was reserved for food, where Tandoori chicken, tikka lamb and basmati rice are prepared with the same care as in Bangalore itself in the south of the Asian country.

The team of Juan Luis Medina was inspired by contemporary and modern India, where traditional materials and colors converge but with a new vision. The place is divided into two floors. In the floor of the street stand the coverings – both on the floor and on the walls – in natural materials such as enamelled clay in black and white, and oak wood. The bar is one of the main elements of the space, in which it has used the effect of typical Indian blinds, in this case reinterpreted in mirror and brass. Part of the roof has also been coated in mirror to bring more light and height to the space.

In the furniture, also combines tradition and modernity. The tables are an exclusive design in wood and marble, and the tapestries are made of natural fabrics such as moss green velvet and cotton, which provide quality space. Some lamps are designed with traditional pai-pais and the composition of brass and cloth lanterns tint the light of the first part of the restaurant.

On the ground floor, blue and garnet predominate and a beautiful open patio with a careful selection of vegetation and handmade clay pots gives natural light to the space. In this room also stand the brass suspension lamps and opaline balloons and rhomboid sconces made of brass, also designed exclusively for this restaurant. In Madrid there is no other place like that and maybe in Bangalore, either.
