A HOUSE WITHOUT FEAR TO GREATNESS

In this Australian house, the ‘vintage’ pieces and custom furniture, combined with ‘chandeliers’ and endless text, generate a majestic atmosphere that conveys the feeling of warmth.

When buying this Georgian house from the 1920s, the owners of a couple with a daughter knew that they would need a renovation. Over time, this house in Melbourne had been remodeled, but its new owners decided to hire Australian interior designer David Hicks to modernize it. However, respecting the greatness of origin of the property was essential. The only thing that the owners asked the interior designer was to design a cozy house with formal areas for entertainment and an ideal telephone to highlight objects and pieces of art.

A hall decorated with a fireplace and a coffered ceiling welcome. On the left is the TV room, the office and the formal lounge where the Guglielmo Veronesi Italians from the 1950s are wearing a Kelly Hoppen fabric combined with a marble table that needs the strength of 10 men. to get here. To the right, the formal dining room, the family dining room, a room with an open floor plan and the kitchen were raised. Ideal to enjoy the outdoors and be protected from the sun at the same time, the porch to the garden.

In most spaces, the window is based on silver and cream tones, with daring graphic touches and many textures. Wallpapers, fabrics, art objects, mirrors, vases and sculptures create an eclectic and luxurious aesthetic. The original parquet floor was renovated and converted into some areas to give a feeling of greater grandeur.

The architecture of the house inspired the decoration. But David Hicks wanted to design a project with an international look so he bought items from all over the world. The designer also had a different size of the spaces to find the furniture with the correct scale.

The stairs lead to a terrace on the roof and to the six bedrooms (one of them was transformed into a huge wardrobe). In the master bedroom, the darker tones contribute to creating a sexy and majestic sanctuary.

Glamorous and elegant, this house pays homage to its history but also reveals a new face, adapted to its time.
