LES COPAINS F/W 2015 MILAN FASHION WEEK RTW

Les Copains new creative director, gave the international fashion crowd a tutorial, in an Italian signora sort of way, on how the right accessories can upgrade any outfit. In this case, how rhinestone earrings, blinding necklaces and Art Deco-inspired dragonfly brooches can parlay wool knitwear into gala-fit evening wear.

FENDI F/W 2015 MILAN FASHION WEEK RTW

Model Doutzen Kroes, awash in a stark white oversized peacoat and headband, kicked off the Fendi show with a sense of artistic purism — symbolic of a break from the confines of massified trends.

Architectonic and paneling techniques were splashed onto fur patterns, prints and complex leather combos and even footwear and accessories.

MOSCHINO F/W 2015 MILAN FASHION WEEK RTW

Jeremy Scott went a little bit Looney Tunes with his fall/winter 2015 Moschino show. But this is a designer who loves to put a playful twist on archetypal attire and get his kook on by creating clothing that taps into sunny side nostalgia.

This season Scott looked to the hip hop styles of the ’80s for his starting point.

STELLA JEAN F/W 2015 MILAN FASHION WEEK RTW

“The trick is to change the theme every time and of course the silhouettes,” she told backstage. “We started out with Africa and in this collection, there aren’t any African references. There is an evolution in terms of genre and volumes and there is much more of a masculine aspect that I think really highlights the underlying sense of femininity,” she added.

“The themes were played out in a kitsch way in order to render the collection credible and to balance out the classic,” Jean added.

LUISA BECCARIA F/W 2015 MILAN FASHION WEEK RTW

She just introduced a more focused attention to the “practical” needs of her posh clientele, injecting a good dose of tailoring and adding more substantial and masculine fabrications like loden, gray flannel, vicuña wool, and tweed to her signature über-feminine look

FAÇONNABLE S/S 2015 AD

FAÇONNABLE S/S 2015 AD’ CAMPAIGN

Model up and comer Hedi Segalen is the face of Façonnable S/S 2015 Ad’ campaign, he models the label’s three lines for its spring-summer 2015. This collection pays tribute to French artist Jean Cocteau.

Connecting with photographer Paul Schmidt, perhaps one of the season’s most stunning images for Façonnable come from its F. line. Hedi is captured taking a dramatic leap and run in the imagery, which features the brand’s relaxed suiting and separates.

Not only will the palm trees line the beachfront of the French Riviera for S/S 2015, they will also be printed on various iconic pieces of the Façonnable S/S 2015 Collection and have inspired the Eyewear advertising campaign.

This campaign is full of the French-Cannes feeling people always want to live. The garments are amazing, the fit, the colors and the French-man travels to Puerto Rico or Cuba for a Mojito that you want.

This campaign yells French Riviera all the way, the sea, the villa, the garden, the croissant and please, don’t forget about the cocktails. WE LOVE THIS FAÇONNABLE NEW CAMPAIGN!

KENT ROAD HOUSE

KENT ROAD HOUSE: BLACK & WHITE

KentStreet01

The Kent Road house project is Architect Terry McQuillan and his wife’s home in Brisbane. Terry has transformed a simple cottage with a 60’s extension into a stylish modern home with a couple of surprises.

Highlights of the project include:

  • the bathroom opens up to the backyard
  • the simple design opens the house up and creates a strong connection with the outdoors as well as maximising the light, space and breezes
  • sliding wall panels create a flexible space that challenges ideas about public and private space
  • the construction process was a family affair involving Terry and his father.

What was the design brief?

The brief evolved over time. The original house was an old cottage with a 60’s extension at the rear. The extension had a skillion roof at the rear that came down very low and few windows, making the house feel very detached from its surroundings. Another issue common to houses of that type, was that the covered rear deck had a set of stairs down to the separate laundry at the bottom. Because the access was not fully covered you’d get wet in the rain. We also wanted a garage and gym space underneath the house so the underneath is a more useable space.

To address these issues the brief was to:

  • create a connection to the outside and open up the house to the back yard, letting in more light and breezes
  • create an internal stairwell to get to the laundry
  • retain the existing character of the cottage

What is special about this project?

The simplicity of the design highlights the old cottage. The design created a break between the old cottage and the new with a breezeway on the western side. The louvres and break before the simple new box addition makes the old cottage section more prominent. Chamfer boards were used to clad both the old and new sections, which allows you to appreciate the shape of the new extension more.

The construction process was a family affair. Terry’s parents lived with him and his wife in the old cottage using a temporary bathroom while the steel frame was being built in the new section. Terry’s father built the house and he helped on weekends. The raw steel was delivered to the site, and Terry’s father crafted all the pieces of the frame, and then a crane stood it all up in one day. This meant the design had to be simple enough to be constructed easily but still needed interesting details. E.g. the chamfer boards have 45 degree mitres and cut-outs

Another issue was how to get enough privacy in the building while still creating a very open and flexible space. Terry designed sliding wall panels inside other panels to create walls that close off sections of the house not being used, make rooms more private, as well as open up to the outside when required. For example, the front or back of the house can be closed off when it’s not being used.

Hidden bathroom – Terry wanted to create some special places you usually don’t find in a residential setting. He used wall panels and sliding doors to put the bath in a more ‘public’ location – at the back of the house. The balcony makes the house feel like it’s part of the outside, and the shower feels like it’s in the backyard because you can open it right up and let the outdoors in. These usually hidden spaces are exposed in this design.

Initially, Terry had to do a lot of modelling looking at where the neighbours’ lines of site were in order to work out the best places to sit privately where the neighbours can’t see you.

PRADA S/S 2015 AD

PRADA S/S 2015 AD’ CAMPAIGN

Prada-Spring-2015-womenswear-campaign

After her surprise appearance on the runway in September, Gemma Ward has landed a spot in the Italian fashion house’s latest Prada S/S 2015 ad’ campaign.

What can we say about PRADA and its fabric and patterns?….WE LOVE THEM. The multi-leather purse is to die for.

Sometimes it seems a mix and sewing of grandma’s left fabrics. But they look good. The womenswear has that yellow touch that gives some interesting color to the collection.

For the menswear campaign Craig McDean captures actors Jack O’Connell, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort & Ethan Hawke.

Prada describes the photos as “There are forces in feelings, and feelings in things. Attesting to this tangible truth are a series of graphic action portraits for Prada’s Spring/Summer 2015 Menswear campaign.”

PRADA is a very colorful brand, we would love to see that colors in the campaign, don’t take us wrong, we like the black and white photos but we think showing the fabrics and textures colors could be good in this case.

SCOTT EASTWOOD

SCOTT EASTWOOD FOR MR PORTER!

Scott-Eastwood-Mr-Porter-2015-Photo-Shoot-001

The new face of Davidoff Cool Water, actor Scott Eastwood connects with Mr Porter for a style shoot lensed by Randall Mesdon and outfitted by style director Dan May.

The upcoming star of The Longest Ride, Eastwood talks about why he decided to use his father’s surname professionally. After being known as Scott Reeves, Eastwood began to use his dad’s name. He explains:

“Family has always been important to all of us. I guess it was just time.”

As Mr Scott Eastwood tells it, his father was a constant presence

“I can’t remember a time that he wasn’t around” – but his youth, which was spent between Hawaii and the West Coast, couldn’t be further from what you’d expect of a spoilt scion of Hollywood royalty (Cardiff-by-the-Sea is hardly known as a party zip code frequented by Tinseltown brats). “It was weekend jobs, hitting dive bars, surfing and fishing with the boys,”

On the Road with Best Friends Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss for Vogue March 2015 cover. Photographed by Mikael Jansson.

Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss have forged the kinds of careers—and the kind of friendship—that people dream about.

You can criticize everything about Taylor Swift, but let’s be honest, the girl knows how to keep and have a good entourage. Lorde, Selena, Karly and others are part of her exclusive group of selected friends.

Now we see the BFF’s having a “Thelma & Louis” moment on Vogue March 2015 cover and we cannot wait to buy the issue. The fashion editorial is amazing, the clothes, the locations, the car…..the only one needed is Brad Pitt and we believe Angelina Jolie was not in the mood for a little game with her man.
