CHECK MATE: TREND FALL 2017

Fall 2017 took us back to through the last few decades, with the forever on trend Plaid. Designers took interesting angles on this trend by making big bold patterns with bold colors, to miniscule patterns with neutral colors. Checkered patterns were very versatile and seen not only in the power suit, but in accessories like Stephen Jones’ Adrien 3000 Tribute hat for Marc Jacobs and Off-White’s high-heel boots.

In order to stand out designers had to come up with new ways to drape and style these checkered looks. Balenciaga caught our attention by wrapping their trench coats over one shoulder, worn like a cape. Calvin Klein added a clear plastic to their checkered coat. While Mulberry took a sophisticated approach to this trend and incorporated it in almost the whole collection. We can’t wait to see how fashionista’s interpret the trend.

TREND FALL 2017: VELVET VIBES

The noble feel of velvet was captured in the Fall 2017 collections among various designers who are bringing a come back to the mystic look.

Altuzarra took a darker approach to the feminine mystic while Erdem went for more of a pastel tone, contrasting the heavy appearance of velvet. While Monse went for an even brighter color palette. Velvet was seen as head-to-toe looks and as accents on jackets, gloves, shoes, and handbags.

FASHION TREND FALL 2017: SHEER GENIUS

The sheer trend appeared numerous times during Fall 2017. This timeless transparent trend is back and revitalized by almost every major designer. From sensual drapery to delicate patterns, each designer takes their own approach to achieve sheer genius.

Calvin Klein took a casual approach to the trend by incorporating knits to sheer tops and pairing it with business casual skirts. Chloè kept it simple with sheer slips. Fendi used this trend by creating elegant silhouettes and delicate details.  Gucci used sheerness in a unique way. They thought out of the box by not only using it for shirts and dresses, but as pants and over head. Each designer’s collections had a distinctive look with the incorporation of this translucent fabric, leaving us wanting to see more sheer next season.
