The firm Generator opens a new “hostel” in the center of Madrid, maintaining its commitment to contemporary design and its style based on creating experiences that seek to make visitors fall in love.
With a total of 129 rooms, ample common spaces, a fresh and innovative gastronomic offer and a contemporary and daring interior design concept, the new Generator hostel is presented, which has just opened its doors in the center of Madrid, close to the Puerta del Sol. The new hostel is located in a building that retains its own historical value. Originally built in 1930 for residential use, in the 1940s it was transformed into a parking lot and service stall. With this architectural and design challenge, Generator has transformed the property, of more than 6,000 square meters, into a totally renovated space.
The commitment to the design of this chain of hostels is one of its hallmarks, together with the aim of creating social experiences and cultural activities, as well as offering an affordable and close luxury. As Elwin Meijvis, of Generator’s Area Manager in Spain, explains, “our concept of success is based on several key points: the first is the commitment to design, to create unique spaces that serve as facilitators of social experiences. the creation of a local cultural agenda “.
As soon as you enter, leaving behind the bustling and vibrant Gran Vía street in Madrid, the light and spaciousness welcome the foreign and native visitor. The lobby, diaphanous and bright, has a large skylight and a luminous sculpture by Tamara Arroyo, which bring warmth and originality to the space.
The hostel has 51 private, double and family rooms, and 78 shared rooms. And beyond the accommodation, the complex also offers rooms designed for those who want to be close to the party area, called party rooms, which are located on the roof, with private terrace and views of the bar area, a few steps from the jacuzzis.
In addition to this bar area on the roof, the hostel has another main bar, which will offer cultural activities such as live music and a selection of cocktails to savor at night in Madrid. The restaurant, also open to the public in Madrid, stands out for a characteristic decoration of the firm Generator, letting glimpse the metal structure of the building, which gives it an industrial touch and warm at the same time. Large leather armchairs, sofas and vintage aesthetic chairs, located next to the large windows, offer the atmosphere that accompanies visitors’ lunches or breakfasts.
“Our idea is that Generator Madrid is a meeting place for locals and tourists, where they share travel experiences and exchange impressions.” The design of the bar / restaurant on the ground floor, in addition to the rooftop bar, we believe will be very welcome “, explains Elwin Meijvis, Generator Area Manager in Spain.
After the experience in Barcelona, where the firm has already opened one of its hostels, Generator arrives in Madrid after a long career in Europe, where it has accommodation in London, Dublin, Paris, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Rome, Amsterdam, Hamburg and Berlin. Voted by Fast Company as one of the 50 most innovative companies in the world, Generator is already planning the opening of its new hostel in Miami.
