SUIT UP: TREND FALL 2018 NEW YORK

Looking back on the most prominent trends of New York Fashion Week, we uncover the Suit Up Fashion Trend from Fall 2018 New York. Probably the most empowering trend of the week, power suiting featured sharp tailored suits, blazer dresses, classic oxford shirts, and variations on work classics.

Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, Jonathan Simkhai, Zadig & Voltaire, and Gabriela Hearst have put their spin on work wear with their powerful displays inspired by female empowerment. Alexander Wang showed a display of Matrix style clothing with sleek yet luxurious looks. Jason Wu’s line was all about the details, as he featured pleated sheer fabrics, with suiting necklines. Jonathan Simkhai collection featured classic work wear with a fitted waistline, giving the outfit a feminine look. Zadig & Voltaire was all about the patterns, with looks that featured multiple types of plaids. Gabriela Hearst had classy satin pants and blouses, mixed with miltary-esque coats.

J.MENDEL F/W 2015 NY FASHION WEEK RTW

Mendel, like many designers feeling the ’70s this season, used skinny scarves as a styling prop, like the black embroidered version tied around the waist of a lingerie-inspired jumpsuit.

The clothes spoke to that as well: a sexy, elegant sort of glamour girl who parties at the swankiest clubs all night but has done it enough to be up, alert and seductive as she makes her way through the next day.
