THE EARTH IS HONORED WITH DESIGN

In Palma the EARTH is honored (with design).  If you are planning a trip to the Balearic Islands, aim this new restaurant on your ‘must-see’ list. Authenticity and warm design are the keywords of ‘Spot’. The latest from ‘Tarruella Trenchs Studio’.

“Creating spaces that provoke emotions” is the leitmotiv of Tarruella Trenchs Studio. “We take each project as a new challenge, interpreting the needs and desires of the client, looking to the future but reviewing and respecting the past,” says the team. The restaurant Spot -of the chain En Compañía de Lobos- perfectly illustrates this philosophy.

Located in the bohemian and young neighborhood of Santa Catalina, in Palma, the space of 290 square meters was decorated with warm colors, authentic materials and ceramic details. It was “to understand the essence of the earth through the history of clay in the Mediterranean, both in the cooking of food and its use in elements of interior design (pots in the walls, floors, enamel in the bar, etc.). ), “Says Olga Pajares from Tarruella Trenchs Studio, responsible for the Spot project.

The hydraulic lime pavement frames the scrapers recovered from an old church on the island, allowing to differentiate the various dining areas. In the central part of the space, you can see the enameled ceramic bar with different shades of orange. According to Olga Pajares, the biggest challenge in the framework of this project was “to take the essence of the land but not fall into a too traditional concept. We had to adapt to the most rational architecture of the building where we are located and make the diner feel welcomed and comfortable in any area within the restaurant. ”

Spot -which has an interior patio full of vegetation- was furnished with pieces designed by the studio itself (such as oak, walnut and ash, iron and stone tables), as well as AOO furniture and lamps, Let’s pause, Santa & Cole, Tunds, Penta Light and Sancal. “We were inspired by the influence of the architecture of the island in the 60s and 70s by architects such as Coderch and Sert. It is a type of architecture that reflects the tradition but adapts it to the current times. In this way, we find the way using indigenous and traditional materials applied in more rationalistic ways “, concludes Olga Pajares.
